Daycare and education

Enrolment to the first grade of basic education of the City of Jyväskylä and Jyväskylä Teacher Training School takes place between 16.-31.1.2025.

There will be two parents' evenings with the same content on choosing the A2 language on 13.1. and 22.1.2025.

The third graders in Jyväskylä schools have the opportunity to apply for music classroom teaching 9.-29.1.2025. The guardians have received a Wilma-message and instructions on how to apply for a music class, the music test and the criteria for admission to a music class. The guardians of third graders at Jyväskylä Teacher Training School, Jyväskylä Christian School and Jyväskylä Steiner School will receive application instructions from their own school.

The guardians have received a Wilma message with more detailed instructions on how to apply, on language skills testing and the selection criteria.

Sixth-graders have the opportunity to apply for English-language education at Viitaniemi School in the supplementary application process during 24.10.-8.11.2024.

Pupils in basic education in Jyväskylä have the opportunity to apply for music classroom teaching at Kilpinen comprehensive school in the supplementary application process during 24.10.-8.11.2024.

In Jyväskylä, sixth-graders in basic education have the opportunity to apply for a sports class at Kilpinen or Viitaniemi School. Applications for sports classes are submitted during 24.10.-7.11.2022 in the Wilma-system.

In Jyväskylä, the registration times and practices for teaching groups in basic education for the academic year 2025–2026 have been reformed. What is new is that registration for the first class is divided into two parts.

At Jyväskylä comprehensive school schools, unresolved, unauthorised and repeated absences, delays and mid-day absences of pupils are addressed as early as possible with joint support measures. The class teacher absences with the pupil and guardian immediately if they have concerns about the pupil's schooling, learning or well-being. The aim is to strengthen interactive cooperation between home and school.
