Rally bringing again numerous invited guests and thousands of tourists to Jyväskylä

The City of Jyväskylä is currently making preparations to receive rally guests in Jyväskylä. During the rally event, the City and its partners have invited hundreds of visitors to get to know the City’s business life and are actively working to create new networks for the development of Jyväskylä. Within tourism, Visit Jyväskylä Region is preparing to receive and guide thousands of rally fans from all over the world.

Secto Rally Finland will again also serve as a platform for various business events and ones arranged for invited guests.

City of Jyväskylä and Fortum partner to bring data centre to Jyväskylä

The City of Jyväskylä and Fortum have signed a letter of intent to build a data centre complex on land owned by the city in the Seppälänkangas area of Jyväskylä. Fortum will develop and market the area to potential data centre operators who will make the actual investments.

The aim of the partnership is to create a data centre complex of at least 20 hectares and employing between 150-200 people.

Three Linkki payment zones from June 3rd

There will also be moderate increases in season ticket prices on 3 June, while other ticket prices will not increase.

As the Linkki area expands, the charging zones have been redefined.

Yläkaupungin Yö is a legendary city festival that has delighted the people of Jyväskylä for three decades. This year, the festival will take place from 17-19 May, with over 200 events taking place all over the Upper Town.

A student's May Day (Vappu) in Jyväskylä can include rowing, yoga or even theatre - introducing three different May Day events

For many university students, Finnish vappu (May Day) marks the end of the semester and the beginning of summer. During the vappu, students gather to wear their graduation cap on a statue of Uno Cygnaeus. After the ceremony, the students will move on to the Mattilanniemi beach to watch the traditional watering ceremony “Teekkari Dipping” organised by the Teekkari students' association Algo. On May Day, students in overalls will have a picnic on the Harju.

Swimming Ban Lifted: Mattlanniemi Beach Welcomes Back Swimmers

The result of the Mattilanniemi beach swimming water samples taken on Tuesday, 20 June 2023, showed that the microbiological quality of the water now meets the requirements. The swimming ban issued to Mattilanniemi beach on Monday, 19 June 2023, is lifted. Now the beach is in normal use again.

The water quality of the swimming beach is monitored with samples. Feeding the birds in the beach area is prohibited.
