Three weeks ago, the number of infections increased rapidly. Extensive quarantines and current restrictions have been driving down coronavirus infection rates. This week (week 7) there have been 19 new infections from Monday to Friday morning. The number is clearly lower than in the record week, when the number of infections detected was nearly 240.

When the covid-19 infection spike occurred three weeks ago in Jyväskylä, the city imposed extensive quarantines and ordered pupils in grades 7-9 to distance learning. At the same time, a two-week lockdown was imposed on sports activities organised in the city’s premises for children under the age of 18. In addition, museums and libraries were closed.

These restrictions have already been removed. On Monday 22 February, the continuation of other restrictions and recommendations in Jyväskylä will be evaluated in Jyväskylä," said Ilkka Käsmä, the doctor responsible for infectious diseases.
