If you suspect you have contracted food poisoning or have noticed another flaw in food or a food product, please file a report regarding it.

Suspected food poisoning notification or notification of a food defect

A food business operator must file a suspected food poisoning notification as soon as they become aware of a food poisoning or other defect caused by the food they are handling. The self-monitoring must contain operational instructions on notification and sampling. Food suspected of causing food poisoning must not be disposed of; instead, it must be stored refrigerated (at least 200 g/sample). Samples should be frozen if they cannot be delivered to the laboratory within 24 hours.

There is no emergency department for environmental health. During office hours, we can best be reached by calling or sending an e-mail to the common e-mail address ymparistoterveys (at) jyvaskyla.fi.

If there is a suspicion of food poisoning over the weekend, the samples should be frozen.

If you notice an error in a food product you have bought from a shop, you should file a complaint with the manufacturer or the entity responsible for the product. You can find the contact information on the food package.
