Spend time and take part in activities at youth centres and other youth spaces around the city, both in the centre and in residential areas. The youth van also brings activities to areas that don’t have their own youth facilities. School youth workers run activities in schools and are often available at youth centres too.
If you’re not in work or education, you can join a youth workshop. There you can try out different careers, build your skills, and strengthen your work-life and teamwork skills. You can also complete full qualifications or parts of them.
At Ohjaamo Jyväskylä in the Youth House, under-30s get advice on jobs, education, wellbeing, and everyday life. Outreach youth work supports 15–29-year-olds who are outside education or work, or who need help with something on their mind.
Special youth workers are part of the Anchor (Ankkuri) team, which works to prevent youth crime. You can also meet them at Bostari, a youth space in the Forum shopping centre.
Street youth workers come to where young people already spend time—public spaces, hangouts, and other meeting places—offering support especially during free time. They mainly work with young people under 25.
