Youth Services
The City of Jyväskylä's Youth Services organizes youth work in different residential areas of Jyväskylä, where youth centres are located. In the youth centres, young people can meet friends, play games or just hang out. Group meetings, music clubs, theme days, and evening cafés are also a part of youth work in youth centres.
The Youth Art Workshop (Nuorten taidetyöpaja) provides work experience, activities, and guidance for young people who are without work or study.
Youth information and advice work supports and advises young people in Jyväskylä, mainly online. Located in the Nuorten talo and Asemankulma, Ohjaamo Jyväskylä is a low-threshold service point for people under 30 years of age, offering guidance and advice on employment, education, well-being, and other everyday issues. Outreach youth work helps young people to clarify their life situations and plans for the future.
Youth workers also meet with young people in public places, such as the city centre and school yards. The youth workers ask how you are doing, whether everything is okay, and can help if needed.
Katupäivystys Synkkis move around on Friday evenings or at night and are on duty at various events. They are youth workers of the city of Jyväskylä and you can spot them by their blue jackets with "Synkkis" written on them.
