Animal protection and animal diseases
The purpose of animal protection is to protect animals from suffering, pain and distress and to promote animal welfare and good treatment.
Animal welfare supervision is carried out in the operational area by supervising veterinarians and municipal veterinarians. Animal welfare notifications are primarily made to the supervising veterinarian.
Outside office hours, emergency animal welfare duties are carried out by large animal emergency services and the police.
In addition, the voluntary animal welfare advisors of the Central Finland animal welfare association provide animal welfare advice.
Official animal health controls (e.g. Salmonella controls in poultry, official export certificates) are carried out by veterinarians and municipal veterinarians. Contact primarily with the supervising veterinarian.
