This spring, the whole of Finland will collect one million bags of trashes from the environment.

Jyväskylä is involved in the discussions to challenge all Jyväskylä residents to join in the garbage collection so that we reach the goal of collecting one million garbage bags. The size of the trash bag doesn't matter. A fruit bag is countable as a bag, but everyone must report the number of collected garbage bags to Yle's garbage counter.

The city makes sure that the waste containers in public areas won’t overflow with garbage. Since the waste containers in public areas are intended for small individual trash, we hope that the campaign participants take their full trash bags to their own mixed waste containers. If necessary, a fully collected garbage bag can be placed next to the public waste containers, so maintenance will pick it up during the cleaning time.

In addition to the trash collecting activity, you can participate in events organized by the city.

Borrow a waste bin from libraries

Waste bins can be borrowed with a library card from libraries (except for the Säynätsalo and Vaajakoski libraries because of a renovation). Waste cans can be borrowed from libraries throughout the campaign until 14 June.
