Presidential election 2024

The presidential election day was Sunday 28 January 2024. The advance voting period was from 17 to 23 January 2024 in Finland and from 17 to 20 January 2024 abroad.

The election day for the second round is Sunday 11 February 2024. All polling stations will be open on election day from 9 to 20.

The advance voting period is from 31 January to 6 February 2024 in Finland and from 31 January to 3 February 2024 abroad.

Right to vote

All Finnish citizens who reach the age of 18 years no later than on 28 January 2024 are entitled to vote in the upcoming election, regardless of their place of residence.

The Digital and Population Data Services Agency has sent a polling card to all eligible voters either by post or electronically via Suomi.fi Messages. The polling card has been sent electronically to those eligible voters who have activated Suomi.fi Messages and given their consent for official messages to be sent via the service.

Everyone entitled to vote will receive a notification card at home with information about the polling station on the election day and the advance polling stations in the Central Finland region, as well as the addresses and opening hours of the polling stations.

Voters must present proof of their identity at the polling station. Official photo IDs, such as passports, identity cards issued by the police and driving licences, are accepted as proof of identity.

On election day, voters may only vote at the polling station specified in the polling card sent to them before the election.

The polling station is determined by the municipality of residence and address in the population register on 8 December 2023.

Voters can vote at any public advance polling station, regardless of their place of residence, once they have verified their identity. Bring photo identification, such as a driving licence, passport and Kela card with photo.
