Mar 10. – Apr 4. Holvi, The Lower Gallery

Airport is a community art project, which was planned and organized by the Siipeilijät (The Free-riders) volunteers, the Art Museum staff and Artists from Central Finland who are all involved in Magic of Flight exhibition.

This piece is part of the Jyväskylä Museums’ collective of events and exhibitions in Magic of Flight.

The Airport is a public space, a kind of “lounge” where one can sit on benches borrowed from Tikkakoski airport, and become acquainted with Magic of Flight offers as well as other travel brochures. Memories can be acquired from the Travel Memory Store that conveniently recycles and trades the old for the new, without a long and strenuous flight.

At the Airport you can test your skill at an airplane simulator, or play flight related games lent by a private collector, or, you can watch aviation films from a hoard of archives.

There will also be performances and workshops. The Siipeilijä’s, Live Herring (the film and media art representative of Middle Finland), Mind Less Airlines -performance group, Dancer Helena Ratinen’s Dance Pedagogy students from the University of Jyväskylä’s Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, and other aeronautic professionals and amateurs will be responsible for the up coming programme.
