Startup grant – support for new entrepreneurs

Start-up grants are financial support to support entrepreneurs at the beginning of their entrepreneurship.

Unemployed people, working people, students, part-time entrepreneurs or anyone who wants to become a full-time entrepreneur can be recipients of the grant.

The granting of start-up grants is determined by an employment services expert, and it is possible to receive it if the future entrepreneur meets certain criteria.

When you apply for start-up money:

  1. Do not register your company until you get the decision on start-up money.
  2. Submit your application well in advance before starting your business.
  3. If you only have an idea about the company, contact the Keski-Suomen Yritysidea services and develop your idea further with experts.
  4. You must have a complete business plan, calculations of the company's profitability and a tax debt certificate before submitting your application.
  5. Submit your start-up grant application electronically on the Työmarkkinatori website via the e-service. If you send all the attachments at once the processing time will be shorter.
  6. The employees of the municipal trial will contact you when the application arrives.

Appendices necessary for the start-up grant application:

  • A business plan, i.e. a plan for your company
  • A profitability calculation i.e. a calculation of the financial return of the undertaking
  • A tax debt certificate, i.e. a certificate that you do not have a tax debt. The certificate must be less than 3 months old
  • possible loan promise for external financing

NB! If you have a tax debt, you must pay off the debt and deliver a receipt of the payment of the tax debt to the Jyväskylä employment services.

This must be done before you can get a decision on receiving startup money.
The decision on start-up grants will be made within 3-4 weeks from the date when the application and all the appendices have arrived at the Municipal Trial.
