The City of Jyväskylä and its day care services thank all families for their understanding and cooperation under these exceptional circumstances and hope that families will continue to care for their children at home, if at all possible, as has been recommended by the government. If a child stays at home, the family will receive compensation for all those days (up to 13 May, 2020) for which it has made an advance notification that the child will be absent.
To receive compensation, families need to notify the day care centre or the family care group the day before the child is to be absent. The notifications can be made via Tieto Edu (care time reservations application) or by phone, text message or email. If a child is to be absent on Monday, the notification has to be made on Sunday at the latest. If it is made on the same day when the child is absent (e.g., on Monday), no compensations will be paid. Families are strongly advised to make notifications for as long periods of absence at a time as possible.
The purpose of these restrictions is to protect children and day care personnel. They also make it possible to alleviate the shortage of workers that some other services of the City are currently facing because of the coronavirus. For example, in this way some day care workers of the City can be moved to social and health care services.
