Jyväskylä is a welcoming city for students. Students have always formed an important and cherished part of Jyväskyläs demographic, thanks to its long history as a city of education.

Jyväskylä was the home of Finland’s first Finnish-speaking secondary school, teacher training seminary, an all-girl school in the 19th century. Today, one in three residents holds a higher education degree. This is a very high proportion.
