Student-sized city
Jyväskylä is a welcoming city for students. Students have always formed an important and cherished part of Jyväskyläs demographic, thanks to its long history as a city of education.
Jyväskylä was the home of Finland’s first Finnish-speaking secondary school, teacher training seminary, an all-girl school in the 19th century. Today, one in three residents holds a higher education degree. This is a very high proportion.
"A city that is just the right size, youthful, pleasant, and idyllic, where it is easy to get to know people and you can get anywhere by bike. Everything is easily accessible."
"Multidisciplinarity. Diverse and high-quality study opportunities, respected educational institutions."

"Community spirit and cooperation. People don't hide away. The educational institution is not "the thing," but what it offers."
