Jyväskylä's Nuorten Talo is celebrating nationwide Ohjaamo Week from 9 to 13 February, with the theme of young people's job seeking
During Ohjaamo Week, young people receive guidance and support specifically related to job hunting. All young people under the age of 30 are invited to Ohjaamo to learn about topics for which they need support or advice in their everyday lives. The aim of the week is to also reach young people who have not previously visited Ohjaamo.
The theme week program includes support for identifying and articulating one's own skills in job seeking, starting a business, or looking for work. Ohjaamo provides advice on utilizing youth recruitment subsidies and summer job vouchers for those under 18 in job seeking. Young people can also take part in a job interview simulator, where they can practice for job interviews. In the CV workshop, participants work on their own CVs, so it is a good idea to bring your own laptop.
A more detailed schedule and the full week's program can be found on the website.
Young people will receive a lot of support in finding work and choosing a career during the spring
Anyone under the age of 30 can visit Ohjaamo. The services are confidential, free of charge, and can also be used anonymously. You can visit Ohjaamo on weekdays without an appointment during walk-in hours from 12 noon to 4 p.m. You can also make an appointment. Ohjaamo provides support for job hunting, education, housing, financial matters, leisure time, and personal well-being. At Ohjaamo, young people are met by experts from, among others, the City of Jyväskylä's youth services and employment services, as well as the Central Finland welfare area, the Gradia Education Consortium, and the City of Jyväskylä's housing advice service.
During the spring, there will be more events and support for young people looking for work and guidance on their studies. The events will continue at the Youth House during career choice intensive weeks starting on February 17. Jyväskylä Employment Services and Ohjaamo Jyväskylä are organizing career choice intensive weeks from February 17 to March 20. During the intensive weeks, you can meet with psychologists from Jyväskylä Employment Services' career choice and career guidance services, as well as Ohjaamo's regular study counselors.
If you don't know where to start, start from Ohjaamo
Ohjaamos are low-threshold service points that offer free support, advice, and guidance to all young people, even without an appointment. Ohjaamo Jyväskylä is located at Jyväskylä's Nuorten talo at Asemakatu 4.
- At Ohjaamo, young people do not need to know which expert they need help from. They can come to Ohjaamo with any issue. We work with young people based on their own wishes and needs, and together we look for suitable services and directions in life, says Mirka Mikkola, coordinator of Ohjaamo Jyväskylä and Nuorten talo.
