The Artwork and Artist events will delve into the Dialogies exhibition series in spring 2026
The spring 2026 programme at the Jyväskylä Art Museum gallery is built around dialogue, as the Vuoropuheluja (Dialogues) exhibition series presents two contemporary artists from Central Finland at a time. The exhibition series runs from 24 January to 24 May 2026, and during this period visitors have the opportunity to deepen their exhibition experience through Teos ja taiteilija (Artwork and Artist) events.
Dialogues exhibitions examine the artists’ working methods and artistic thinking side by side. These paired exhibitions create new perspectives on the diversity of contemporary art in Central Finland and offer fresh ways of engaging with both emerging and well-known artists and their works. Throughout the exhibition season, the art museum’s volunteers host artist meetings where visitors can learn about the artists’ career paths, working processes, and the background stories of their works.
Three paired exhibitions will be presented in the gallery during the spring:
- 24 January–1 March 2026: Timo Hannunen & Jaakko Valo
- 7 March–12 April 2026: Kristian Venäläinen & Virpi Lehto
- 18 April–24 May 2026: Raimo Reinikainen & Tuomo Blomqvist
The accompanying Artwork and Artist events offer visitors the opportunity to meet the artists in person and hear their reflections on selected works:
- Friday, 13 February, 2–3 pm: Artwork and Artist – Timo Hannunen and Jaakko Valo
- Friday, 6 March, 2–3 pm: Artwork and Artist – Kristian Venäläinen and Virpi Lehto
- Saturday, 18 April, 2–3 pm: Artwork and Artist – Raimo Reinikainen and Tuomo Blomqvist
These events deepen the exhibition experience and invite audiences to take part in conversations about art, authorship, and the meanings of artworks. The spring programme offers inspiring encounters for both contemporary art enthusiasts and casual museum visitors alike.
