Pielespuisto is located in Kangasvuori, Jyväskylä, and was renovated in 2020–2022. At the time park´s vegetation was increased, biodiversity improved, and runoff and stormwater made more visible part of the park. The park was among the top five green spaces in a high-level national competition for the built environment. Pielespuisto is a versatile environment for recreation and learning for nearby residents and the children of the Kangasvuori daycare school.

A cultural block is planned for the centre of Jyväskylä, due to be completed by the turn of the 2030s. Work has started on the concept for the cultural blocks activities and facilities. The aim is that the City Council makes a decision on the cultural block in late 2025. The first public event will be held on 19 March at the Main Library and an online survey has been opened.

The City of Jyväskylä turns 188 years old on Saturday 22rd of March 2025, with a varied programme of events and festivities! This year the celebrations will be spread over two weeks. Most of the programme will take place the week before the birthday. The celebrations will continue after the birthday, when on Wednesday 26 March, the fifth-graders' own party will take over at the Paviljonki.

The Jyväskylä City Council will be elected this coming spring with the municipal elections. The new City Council will start updating the city strategy during the fall of 2025. To ensure the council has enough input for their work, we have already started the preparations by evaluating our current strategy. We want to invite all our stakeholders to help us – share your thoughts on what should be included in the strategy so that Jyväskylä is a great place to live, study, and work!

Starting this spring season, Jyväskylä Sinfonia is offering wheelchair users a new way to enjoy concerts with the introduction of a specially designated VIP area. Located on the 4th floor of Paviljonki, the VIP area features four wheelchair-accessible seats along with seating for accompanying assistants. The space provides a direct view of the Encore Hall stage through glass windows, which can be opened or closed as needed, for example, to adjust sound levels.

This year marks a special milestone for Jyväskylä Sinfonia as the orchestra celebrates its 70th anniversary. The main concert of the anniversary year will take place on Wednesday, July 2nd, at 6 PM in the Encore Hall of Paviljonki. This unique event will be held together with another birthday celebrant, Jyväskylä Festival, which is also turning 70 this summer.

The route of Secto Rally Finland, the Finland Round of WRC, is drawn each year along the winding rural roads of Central Finland. The route team of the event continues to pull out new surprises year after year, and we are excited to present the 2025 edition!
