Work Trial

What is a work trial?

A work trial is an opportunity to get accustomed to working life and the employer. No employment contract is drawn up for a work trial. A work trial is always of limited duration. You can stay in work trial for a maximum of one year, but with the same employer for a maximum of six months. The most common work trials are 1-3 months long. The daily duration of the work trial and the number of working days per week will be agreed upon with the wok trial participant. A work trial can be organised no more than five days a week and 4-8 hours a day.

Pay subsidy

It may be possible for an employer to receive wage subsidy for hiring an employee.
The wage subsidy depends on the situation of the jobseeker.

Wage subsidy is granted on a discretionary basis and is based on the job seeker's need to gain employment experience.

The employer applies for wage subsidy.

Support must be applied for well in advance before the employment relationship begins.
Ask your personal coach about your wage subsidy rate and how long the wage subsidy can be paid for.

Where do I find a job?

Job vacancies can be searched for online. A work trial or wage subsidy may also be a route to finding a permanent job. You can browse through vacancies on the Työmarkkinatori.fi website.

The state, municipalities, personnel service companies and companies will announce vacancies on this website. You can also find job advertisements directly on the companies' own websites.
You can also submit an open job application if you cannot find a job corresponding to your profession at the moment.

The Museum of Central Finland for families with children

The permanent exhibition of the Museum of Central Finland offers also the little ones in the family a chance to explore Central Finland. In the exhibition one can create one’s own cave painting using modern technology, meet a mythical bear, and immerse oneself in old-time life by examining objects and listening to stories. And how would it feel to step into a smoke sauna, stop by a market, sit down at an elementary school desk or jump behind the wheel of a rally car? And what does a trip, led by young Alvar Aalto, to Jyväskylä of more than a hundred years ago look like?

Our museum - The Museum of Central Finland

What is it about Central Finland? Why do so many significant innovations, such as the Finnish-speaking school system, have their roots in Central Finland? These and many other matters are pondered in the Museum of Central Finland, less formally known as "KeMu".

The City of Jyväskylä will switch off the coloured lights of the Kuokkala and Ylistö bridges today at 19:00 to remind the public of the impact of the Russia's war of aggression on the lives of Ukrainians

The Embassy of Ukraine has approached Finnish cities with a request to show their support for Ukraine by turning off Christmas lights or other illuminated sites for one minute at 19.00. The global campaign is a reminder of the impact of Russia's war of aggression on the lives of Ukrainians. Due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, millions of people in Ukraine are currently without electricity.

In Jyväskylä, the coloured lights will be switched off from the Kuokkala and Ylistö bridges on 21 December 2022 at 19.00.
