The changing climate touches everyone of us and actors need to act on slowing it down, also in Jyväskylä. The City of Jyväskylä is set on achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Guidelines for a savvy hiker
Please keep in mind that there are certain restrictions concerning hiking in protected nature areas and on nature trails:

Jyväskylä has a number of marked nature trails with information boards in a variety of terrains and suitable for hikers of different skill levels. In addition, the city has bird towers situated by a number of different bodies of water. From them one can spot even some rarer birds, particularly during the springtime.
The large areas of unbroken forest and varying terrain offer excellent possibilities for hiking and nature experiences. There are also some fine nature spots right by the centre which are worth a visit.

The city’s nature conservation authorities ensure through their actions the preservation of nature native to and characteristic of the area as well as its diversity.
