Percentage culture in the smart city district of Kangas
So-called percentage culture has been implemented in Kangas since 2015 whereby one percent of the income from plot sales and of construction costs is channeled into culture, art, and events throughout the entire construction phase. This enables collecting tidy sums, with over €5M reached in 15 years already!
Thanks to percentage culture, both traditional art purchases and support for occasional displays of performing arts including theatre, circus, concerts, and films are possible in the area.
Kankaan Palvelu Oy is in charge of the percentage culture.
Art in Kangas
The district of Kangas supports cultural and art life in Central Finland in many ways. Art is indeed a significant part of Kangas, and the district actively implements percentage culture and maintains its own Artist Bank.
Are you an artist? Offer your works to the Kangas Artist Bank or get in touch with the art coordinator Kirsi Pitkänen, tel. 050 338 7705 and kirsi[at]kankaanpalvelu.fi.
