A secondary application round for English-language teaching groups in Jyväskylä in years 2 through 5 for the 2021–2022 school year takes place on 7.–21.1.2021. Pupils in grades 1 through 4 currently in general teaching groups may apply. The language skills of all applicants will be examined prior to selection. Language tests for applicants in the secondary round will be conducted on Monday, the 8th of February, and the decision on pupil selection will be made on 6.4.2021.

English-language teaching is primarily intended for pupils who formerly resided abroad and begun their schooling in English. In the secondary round, pupils in general teaching groups may also apply. Pupils selected for the English teaching groups will be taught in English, aside from arts and physical education lessons as well as some elective subjects, which will be taught in Finnish.

Pupils in other municipalities may also apply. In such cases, an additional criterion for selection is a payment commitment from the pupil’s municipality of residence. The parents of the pupil will be responsible for any costs incurred from school journeys from outside Jyväskylä.

English-language teaching will observe the curriculum and evaluation principles of the City of Jyväskylä. English-language teaching groups for grades 1 through 6 are located in Kortepohja school, and for grades 7 through 9, in Viitaniemi school.
