The Council of State decided on 23 July 2020 that the University of Jyväskylä receives a new educational responsibility in the field of technology, concerning the respective degrees of Bachelor, Master, Licentiate and Doctor of Technology.
”In our increasingly digital society, there is a need for software experts who understand the operation logic of different fields and can find IT solutions suitable to these contexts. While digital solutions are becoming more complex, we need expertise that integrates IT-related and mathematical competence as well as capacity to apply this expertise to the needs of different fields. Such fields include, for instance, sports and well-being, psychology, social sciences, artistic fields, education, and security”, states Pasi Tyrväinen, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology.
The Faculty of Information Technology of the University of Jyväskylä is Finland’s second largest education provider in the IT field. The faculty yields annually more than 350 degrees.
