Current Exhibitions at Jyväskylä Museums

Jyväskylä Art Museum's exhibitions have three focuses: Central Finnish art, presentation of national fine art to the central Finnish public, and international and national graphic art and drawing. Functionality, experientiality and learning are important starting points in exhibitions in general. Exhibitions are organized as museum's own productions or as collaborative projects of various scopes with various contacts.

In the exhibitions of the Craft Museum of Finland, handicrafts are presented as a profession, an art and a hobby. The crafts presented can be traditional as well as today's products, old and new. The museum's exhibition activities are national and international, open-minded, involving the public and take into account sustainable development and different museum customers. In addition to its own collections, the museum presents the collections of other museums and collaborators.

There are basic exhibitions and plenty of changing exhibitions.

Aalto2 Museum Centre is a unique meeting place of architecture, design and cultural heritage in Jyväskylä, which combines the Museum of Central Finland and the Alvar Aalto Museum under the same roof. The museum center offers an interesting and multi-layered exhibition program of permanent and changing exhibitions.

The exhibitions of the Finnish Air Force Museum present Finnish military aviation history from the 1910s to the present day. The objects in the basic exhibition mainly consist of airplanes, engines and flight equipment used by the Finnish Air Force. Temporary exhibition pieces are also placed on different sides of the exhibition hall.

The Heritage as Environment permanent exhibition of the Natural History Museum of the University of Jyväskylä operating in Vesilinna presents central Finnish nature from the oldest bedrock to the current sites of the 21st century. Also temporary exhibitions.

Ratamo Printmaking and Photography Centre includes Galleria Ratamo, an art loan office, and graphic and photography workspaces. In the temporary exhibitions, art graphics and photography exhibitions alternate. The Jyväskylä Art Museum and the Center for Creative Photography are responsible for Ratamo's operations.

Located in Korpilahti, the art gallery run by enameller Ulla Huttunen and carpenter Arto Salminen hides monthly changing exhibitions and a high-quality gallery shop.

Galleria Becker, maintained by the Jyväskylä Artists' Association, is located in a charming wooden villa built in 1903, in the immediate vicinity of the University of Jyväskylä. The exhibitions change every three weeks.
