The first snow ski track in Laajavuori will be transferred from Jyväslumi Oy to the responsibility of the City of Jyväskylä and will become free of charge for skiers on Saturday 10 January. Plenty of more snow is still needed for Jyväskylä's other ski routes.

During the early winter, Jyväslumi Oy has been responsible for the construction of the approximately 2-kilometre-long first snow ski track. Due to the low snow in the early winter, the track has been in very heavy use since its opening. Now the ski trail will be transferred to the responsibility of Jyväskylä Sports Services and at the same time it will become free of charge from Saturday.

The winter with little snow has made it difficult to lay the foundations of other ski trails in Jyväskylä. It has been possible to pack snow on the trails with track rollers, but the sparse and dry new snow cannot withstand driving with a track machine without the risk of damaging the track base and soil rising into the snow. After the renovation of the ski trails has begun, walking and cycling on the routes is prohibited.

Skiers are still expected to be patient, as there is little snow in some places on many routes and soil is visible. The trails are in safe skiing condition only when they are marked as open on the Fluent Outdoors website.

Up-to-date information on the maintenance of the ski trails and the commissioning status of the ski trails can be found at https://jyvaskyla.fluentprogress.fi/outdoors/ .
