Parking

The regional parking regulation in the center of Jyväskylä allows vehicles to park only in specific parking spaces. Jyväs-Parkki Oy manages the parking controls.

Decisions about parking fees are made by the urban structure committee. In specific cases, the street manager decides on the regulation of parking.

Information about parking zone and parking fees can be find on Jyväs-Parkki Oy's website. See also the traffic map of the city center (In Finnish), which shows the disk parking spaces, parking spaces on the street sides of the city center, and parking areas and facilities.

In the city center area, you can park for free in the parking spaces of City Hall or the city administration quarter (Hannikaisenkatu 17) on weekdays after 4 pm and on weekends.

Parking for disabled  in the center of Jyväskylä on the street and in parking garages (pdf in Finnish).

Parking on properties

The parking of vehicles should be arranged on the property plot, not on the roadside. As a general rule, there are no on-street parking spaces reserved for the use of a property or business.

In addition to the city center, a regional parking regulation is also applied in residential areas, where parking is allowed only in the parking sign (P) spaces. Vehicles cannot park in other public areas, for example, on the side of the streets.

Family celebrations and short-term parties

For short-term parties, it is possible to apply for a temporary parking permit in the City of Jyväskylä for using the streets and parking areas managed by the city, where parking is limited or prohibited. The parking permit can be issued for a maximum of two days.

The application must be submitted at least one week in advance. The most convenient way to apply for a permit is through the electronic application form.

It is also possible to contact the Service Center Hannikainen. Phone number 014 569 5000.

The permit may not be granted for fee-paying parking areas, streets with alternate-side parking, residents-only parking, or turning bays and sidewalks.
Approval with procedural instructions will send to the applicant primarily by e-mail. The permit is free of charge. Acknowledgment about granting a permit is forwarded to the parking control of the city of Jyväskylä.

The licensee is responsible for the flow of traffic during the exceptional arrangements. Vehicles may park on the other side of the street, also consider at least 3.5 meters of free space for emergency vehicles. Parking at a bus stop and side access is forbidden. Having a parking permit does not entitle cars to park on a terrain. The licensee must inform the guests and neighbors about the exceptional arrangements.

The parking permit's application for events must be submitted through the City of Jyväskylä's event permit.
