Youth services are responsible for regional youth work and youth centres, youth information and counselling, cultural youth work, school youth work, youth participation education, digital youth work, and media activities. The Youth Arts Workshop offers work experience, activities, and guidance for young people who are without work or education. Art and creative methods are part of the Youth Art Workshop's coaching.

The City of Jyväskylä Youth Services creates conditions for, supports, and promotes international and multicultural encounters and activities for young people. Different cultures are taken into account in all activities.

Opportunities for international and multicultural experiences are provided through networks, information, consultation, and coaching. The Youth Service creates and maintains international contacts and networks, primarily for young people but also for other actors.
Activities at the youth centres

The City of Jyväskylä has 10 youth facilities in different parts of the city. In the youth centre you can meet friends, play games, listen to music, watch TV, do your homework, or just hang out. You can also find outdoor equipment in the youth facilities. There are always at least two youth workers on site.

There are also group meetings, clubs, theme days, and evening cafés.

You can find the City of Jyväskylä's youth centres and their contact details here (only in Finnish).

School youth work

A school youth worker (koulunuorisonohjaaja) is an unhurried adult who meets young people in everyday school life, guides class groups and other groups, organises recreational activities together with pupils and promotes a multidisciplinary sense of community and well-being.

Mobile youth work

The mobile youth work van, Nuorisopaku, takes a wide range of leisure activities to different parts of Jyväskylä, focusing on rural areas and settlements where there are no other activities organised by youth services. Nuorisopaku encompasses a small youth centre and a little bit more. In addition to a coffee thermos, the van carries a wide range of traditional board and yard games, mini ping pong, RC cars, a barbecue, a gaming console and VR glasses, sumo wrestling costumes, craft supplies and much more.

Music and media rooms

Veturitallit has two rehearsal rooms (Pannuhuone and Konehuone) furnished with musical equipment for guided band activities. Pannuhuone is for beginners and includes drums, guitars, bass, keyboards and a PA system with vocal microphones.

Konehuone is aimed at electronic music and hip hop, so the equipment includes computers, microphones, turntables, and drum machines, among other things.

The studio and media workshop can be used for shooting and editing videos, photo shoots and editing and recording and mixing bands.
