The academic year is about to begin, and students are arriving in droves in Jyväskylä. The City of Jyväskylä will be welcoming students at events organised for new students at the University of Jyväskylä on Wednesday 27 August and at events organised by Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences on Thursday 28 August. In addition, over the next two weeks, students will see targeted adverts on social media and on selected public screens and outdoor displays.

At the new student events, the city’s joint booth will feature several services of interest to and tailored for students, such as Linkki, Ohjaamo Jyväskylä and the Youth Center and Veturitallit from Youth Services, Visit Jyväskylä Region, housing counseling, International House Jyväskylä and inclusion services. Jyväskylä, a city of culture, is represented by the Jyväskylä City Theater, the Jyväskylä Symphony Orchestra, the museums of Jyväskylä, the city library, the adult education center and cultural services. Some of the services are featured only at events held by the other educational institution.

In addition to the events, students are welcomed to the city through outdoor billboards in central locations, displays on Onnibus buses arriving in Jyväskylä, and information screens at the city’s own facilities and on the campuses of the educational institutions. At the same time, students are reminded of the student benefits offered by the city’s services.

A list of student benefits can be found on the Student City website at www.jyvaskyla.fi/en/student-city/live/student-discounts.
