Autumn brings changes to the walk-in service hours and services at Nuorten talo
Service offerings for the autumn season
During walk-in hours, professionals from Ohjaamo Jyväskylä will be available as usual. Ohjaamo provides support with issues related to job seeking, education, housing, finances, benefit applications, leisure time and other everyday matters.
The team includes youth counsellors, study counsellors, employment coaches, a social counsellor and housing advisors. On-site visitors can also access Kela’s remote service.
The newest addition to the Nuorten talo walk-in service is a crisis worker from MIELI Kriisikeskus Mobile, who will be available from Friday 14 August 2026 onwards. The crisis worker offers a safe environment for discussion and reflection, for example during a personal crisis, after a loss, or when life circumstances otherwise feel difficult.
However, young people are welcome to come and talk even without an acute crisis. Support is available if relationship issues are causing concern, if one’s own or a loved one’s situation feels overwhelming, if one feels distressed, or if there are suicidal thoughts. Help is also available for those who suspect they have been the victim of a crime, have experienced violence, or are concerned about their own violent behaviour.
A Youth Family Centre worker from Keski-Suomen hyvinvointialue will be available for appointment-free discussions on two afternoons each week. The worker is mainly present on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All young people, regardless of their family situation, are welcome to discuss topics such as everyday challenges, neurodiversity-related issues, loneliness, mental wellbeing and substance-free living. The worker also provides guidance on accessing services offered by Keski-Suomen hyvinvointialue.
The Nuorten talo walk-in calendar, updated every Monday, provides information on which topics guidance is available for on each day.
Low-threshold support
The Nuorten talo walk-in service is free of charge, confidential and can also be used anonymously. Support on all topics is available by appointment as well, and available times can be requested through Ohjaamo Jyväskylä.
If desired, visitors may come together with a support person, such as a parent or guardian, partner, friend or a counsellor from another service. Couples are also welcome to attend together.
Nuorten talo in a nutshell
Nuorten talo brings together services for people under the age of 30. The services are provided by Ohjaamo Jyväskylä and Outreach Youth Work in Jyväskylä, both operated by the City of Jyväskylä Youth Services, as well as the Jyväskylä Youth Mental Health and Substance Abuse Team from the Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland. Nuorten talo is coordinated by the City of Jyväskylä Youth Services.
