Kivistö daycare centre will receive the first children on Monday 3.8.2026. The daycare centre, which was completed at Kärpänkatu 1, offers early childhood education for approximately 170 children. The daycare centre's activities are divided into 14 groups with small groups that provide a safe growth environment according to the child's age level.
The groups create a safe and peaceful everyday life for the child. In a small group, the child can focus on the essentials – play, learning and interaction. Familiar adults and children strengthen the sense of belonging and support the child's trust and well-being.
The children in the Kivistö daycare centre's groups have mainly been transferred from the Aittorinne and Halssila daycare centres. Daycare centre employees familiar to the children have been transferred with the children. The area of the Kivistö daycare centre is approximately 3000 m², and it is partly two-storey. The daycare centre cost almost 8.9 million euros.
The flexible facilities of the daycare centre adapt to different everyday situations – playing, learning and calming down. The versatility of the facilities supports the child's needs and enables the smooth transformation of activities during the day.
The building technology supports the child's good everyday life: fully mechanical ventilation, fresh indoor air, pleasant temperature and good lighting. In the design and furnishings, special attention has been paid to acoustics to ensure that the environment is calm and burdens as little as possible.
The children and their guardians have been able to get acquainted with the new facilities during the summer. An open house event will be held for the residents of the area at the end of August. More information about the event will be provided closer to the event.
With the completion of the Kivistö daycare centre, early childhood education will give up the Aittorinne daycare centre. The Halssila daycare centre property will serve as a temporary facility for the children of the Tammirinne daycare centre from 3.8.2026.
The pre-primary education groups in the Halssila area are located in the pre-primary education units of Ilvespuisto and Lokintie, as at the Halssila day-care centre and at Jyskä school on 12.8.2026.
