Parking at Mämminiemi is available in the official parking area

The most convenient way to reach the Mämminiemi recreation area is by boat via Lake Päijänne. On the north side of the area, there are two boat docks with a total of 11 mooring spots. On the south side, there are six mooring spots in addition to the main dock.

Starting at the end of June, Mämminiemi can also be reached via the Päijänne-Risteily Hildén inland cruise ship. For more information on the route: Päijänne-Risteily Hildén website.

Mämminiemi is also accessible by car. Parking is available in the designated parking area (Ristinseläntie 13, 41630 Oravasaari), which is about a 300-meter walk from the site. There is parking space for about 10 cars.

Please avoid parking along the roadside near the area, as it hinders local traffic and makes it difficult for emergency and service vehicles to pass. Visitors are asked to use the official parking area or to park further away and continue on foot.

Cabins for rent at the Leirikallio Recreation Area

Leirikallio is a campground located in the immediate vicinity of the Mämminiemi outdoor, boating, and recreation area. There are two cabins in the area, which the City of Jyväskylä’s Sports Services rents out for private use.

The lower cabin can accommodate four people, and the upper cabin, including the loft, can accommodate approximately 4–8 people. Both cabins are electrically heated and equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and kettle, basic kitchenware, and a sauna. The cabins have access to lake water, but drinking water must be brought from elsewhere. There is one lake-water-powered outhouse near the cabins. The area also features a barbecue hut, a swimming dock, and a boat dock and mooring suitable for large vessels.

Cabins can be reserved between June 3 and September 27, 2026. To reserve Leirikallio, fill out the application form and email it to the Sports Services Reservation Unit at liikunta.varaukset[a]jyvaskyla.fi. The rental fee for the Leirikallio cabins is 91.10 euros per day.
