National Veterans Day will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2026.
In Jyväskylä, the Tammenlehvän Keski-Suomen Perinneyhdistys ry will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Heroes’ Cemetery in the Old Cemetery. Jukka Hämäläinen, Chair of the Jyväskylä City Board, will lay a joint wreath at the ceremony together with representatives of the Jyväskylä Parish and the Jyväskylä Orthodox Parish.
The main Veterans’ Day celebration will be available to watch on Veteraanipäivät Jyväskylässä website starting Monday, April 27: Veterans’ Days in Jyväskylä.
The celebration, filmed at City Hall, features greetings from Mauri Pekkarinen, Chair of the Jyväskylä City Council, and Colonel Antti Lautala, Chief of Planning at the Air Force Headquarters.
The event also features music performed by the Jyväskylä Sinfonia brass quartet and a dance performance by Venla Oikarinen of UMC Dance Studio.
The recording includes subtitles and sign language interpretation.
