City of Jyväskylä and Ohjaamo Jyväskylä strengthen career guidance for young people

The campaign is scheduled to coincide with the joint application period to upper secondary and higher education, responding directly to the increased need for guidance.

– We have seen a clear rise in the number of young people seeking advice on choosing a profession and applying to studies during February and March. Our guidance counsellors at Ohjaamo are actively consulted during the joint application period, and many young people are looking for support in choosing a field or navigating application processes, says Mirka Mikkola, Coordinator at Ohjaamo Jyväskylä and Nuorten talo.  

Career and Guidance Psychologists Available Without Prior Appointment

During these weeks, career and vocational guidance psychologists from Jyväskylä Employment Services will be available without an appointment. Walk-in psychologist services are offered on Tuesdays, and appointments can be booked for Thursdays. Time slots can be reserved by calling or messaging Ohjaamo, or by email.

With a psychologist, young people can discuss topics relevant to their current career planning, study choices or job search. All discussions are confidential and free of charge.

Study Guidance at Ohjaamo

Ohjaamo’s study counsellors are available weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 to 16:00.
Ohjaamo Jyväskylä operates at Nuorten talo, Asemakatu 4, 2nd floor. Guidance is available in Finnish, and during week 11 also in English.

What is Ohjaamo?

Ohjaamo offers low-threshold guidance and counselling for all under 30s on a wide range of everyday matters, including employment, studies, leisure, housing, finances, wellbeing and other life situations. Ohjaamo Jyväskylä’s multidisciplinary team includes youth workers, study counsellors, employment coaches, a social advisor and housing advisors.
