Thousands of applicants to Jyväskylä in the autumn joint application process
Nationwide, there were approximately 10,900 places available in the joint application process in the fall, most of which were at universities of applied sciences. A total of 34,700 applicants applied in the joint application process.
The university's most popular program was teacher training in Kokkola
The most popular program at the University of Jyväskylä was the bachelor's and master's degree program in adult education for class teachers at the Kokkola University Center Chydenius, which attracted 327 applicants. The Bachelor's and Master's programs in computer science came in second with 232 applications.
The number of applicants to the university increased by 16 percent from the previous year, and the number of applications by 20 percent. In addition, 15 applications were submitted in a separate open pathway application process.
Jamk attracts record numbers to engineering programs
Approximately 130 more applications were submitted to Jamk's degree programs than last year. There were a total of 1,568 first-choice applicants, which is 12 percent more than in autumn 2024.
The most popular program was the Bachelor's degree in Information and Communication Technology Engineering, which received nearly 24 times more applications than there were places available. The program also rose to become the most popular engineering degree nationwide in terms of attractiveness. All three of Jamk's engineering programs were among the five most attractive engineering programs in the country.
In social and health care education, applicants were particularly interested in the midwifery degree program and the blended learning programs for nurses and occupational therapists. In terms of higher polytechnic degrees, the new Master's degree in public administration attracted more than 14 times the number of applications compared to the number of places available.
