A major disruption affecting the City of Jyväskylä’s network connections and phone services has been resolved. Online services, phone lines, and payment terminals are now functioning normally again.

A widespread network disruption was detected in Jyväskylä on July 3, 2025, which impacted the city’s services. The cause was identified as a network device malfunction, which was fixed in the afternoon after 2 PM.

The disruption affected, among other things, phone services and the functionality of the city’s internal network. Services slowed down, for example, in employment services, where the failure of secure network connections prevented staff from accessing job seekers’ customer data. Due to the disruption, card payments were not working during the day in the city’s museums and at the Wellamo swimming hall. In library services, the library system stopped working and self-service units were out of use.

“We are conducting an investigation with our service providers to determine how similar disruptions can be prevented in the future and how to ensure the continuity of services,” says Antti Jokinen, ICT Development Manager at the City of Jyväskylä.
