The ice situation in the waters near the Keljonlahti power plant is surveyed weekly during the winter. The results are published weekly on the Alva website.

In addition to the adjacent waters of Keljonlahti, other risk areas due to weak ice include the front of the Rauhalahti power plant in Lake Jyväsjärvi and the oxidation points of the surface water plant in Lake Tuomiojärvi. We remind you that you always walk on ice at your own risk.

The results of the ice situation measurements in Keljonlahti can be found at alva.fi/jaatiedotekartta.

Measurements do not guarantee the strength of the ice outside the measurement point at the time of measurement, as ice conditions and the way the power plant is driven vary. Measurement is stopped in spring-winter when it becomes dangerous for the measurers to move on the ice.

Places of weak ice

In addition to the waters near the Keljonlahti power plant, there are also weak ice spots in front of the Rauhalahti power plant in Lake Jyväsjärvi. In particular, ice may be weakened in the vicinity of the ditch from the power plant and in the vicinity of the cooling water intake pipe of the power plant. Warning signs will be posted to warn of open water and degraded ice in the area affected by the Rauhalahti power plant.

There are two hazards associated with oxidants in water production in Lake Tuomiojärvi. The oxidizers are located in the direction from Lehtisaari to the beach and Priimus. The oxygenators are warned by warning buoys and boards floating on the ice, located at Viitaniemi, Tuomiojärvi beach, Rantue beach and Haukkala.

Outdoor visitors to Lake Tuomiojärvi should note the locations of the oxygen stations and avoid the areas around them, where the ice will break up earlier than normal. On the ice information map available on the Alva website, the locations of the acidification points are marked with red dots.
