The year 2025 at Jyväskylä Art Museum invites visitors to explore both beloved classics and contemporary themes in art. The exhibitions showcase dearest art treasures from homes across Central Finland and the stories behind them, contemplate new ways of coexisting with nature, and immerse audiences in the possibilities of dreaming.

Art from Home exhibition features, for the first time, cherished art treasures from the homes of Central Finland. A panel of 40 volunteers selected the art works from 240 submissions across the region. The exhibition features 101 works, along with stories of life and memories as told by their owners.

The Gallery’s exhibition Timeless Beauty highlights magnificent works by Finnish artists from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These works offer glimpses into the era’s depiction of women as models and muses, as well as the rise of women artists. Highlights include paintings by Helene Schjerfbeck and Albert Edelfelt, typically displayed at Jyväskylä City Hall, alongside selected contemporary works.

Whose Nature? summer exhibition encourages visitors to seek new ways of being with nature and explore interspecies coexistence. Featuring renowned forest advocates Ritva Kovalainen and Sanni Seppo, as well as esteemed photographic artists, the exhibition challenges viewers to deepen their connection to nature and activate our empathy for the environment.

Jonna Suurhasko’s exhibition Dribble of Being at the Gallery offers a meditative experience where flowing water and living vegetation create a space to explore nature’s life-sustaining systems. Suurhasko’s works evoke thoughts on the beauty and fragility of our environment.

With The Earth Teaches in the Ilmiö Art Space, Australian students from the University of Canberra provide a different perspective on nature. Their exhibition showcases works inspired by their surrounding landscapes in Canberra in a project exploring what the earth can teach us. Children can explore The Enchanted Forest with its peculiar inhabitants.

17th Graphica Creativa Printmaking Triennial celebrates its 50th anniversary in the autumn with an exploration of dreams and imagination. The international print triennial brings a diverse showcase of contemporary art and historical insights to Jyväskylä. The triennial will feature the premiere of FLOS – Arctic Flowers, an interdisciplinary installation by Vappu Rossi, Tuomas Norvio, Aino Peltomaa, and Ensemble Gamut!, combining art, music, and performance.
