The city of Jyväskylä's sports services organizes versatile activities for all ages during the summer. They offer water, indoor and distance group exercises, nature walks, and free outdoor workouts open to everyone in different areas of the city. Guided exercise summertime activities are running from 2 May to 30 June.

During the summer, sports services organize free outdoor workouts every weekday. Summer outdoor sports groups exercise in a relaxed and efficient way without equipment, and the offer includes both outdoor workouts open to all municipal residents and outdoor workouts especially for seniors.

In addition to outdoor workouts similar to the previous summers, there are also completely new outdoor exercise groups. This summer, active people can participate in the easy-step training organized weekly at Harju's outdoor fitness center. For those who want a peaceful moment of exercise, there is an Asahi class organized on the stage of Mäki-Mati family park on Thursday mornings. The popular forest workout in Vaajakoski is expanding to Lohikoski, where a forest workout for seniors is organized on Thursdays at the beach in Lohikoski. People of all fitness levels can participate in an outdoor workout, and it is easy to adjust the movements of the exercise to your fitness level.

Join the guided nature walk!

In June, there is an opportunity to participate in guided nature walks in the surroundings of Vaajakoski, Jääskelä nature trail, and Halssila ski area. Nature walks last 1–2.5 hours, depending on the length of the run and the condition of the participants. A little rain or other miserable weather does not prevent outdoor jogging or nature walks. Outdoor workouts and nature walks are not organized on days of extreme heat or heavy rain. There is no pre-registration need for outdoor exercise groups and nature walks. In addition to appropriate clothing, take your drinking bottle with you.

Aquatic and indoor sports groups will continue their activities until the end of June

In the summer, different fee-based aquatic and gym groups are organized in swimming halls. Levels 1, 2, and 3 water sports and indoor sports groups must be reserved through the Vello reservation system. Groups that require advance registration can also be registered by phone by calling 014 569 0179. You do not need to register in advance for the instructor-on-site sessions in the gyms.

Even in the summer, sports services offer a wide variety of different remote exercise groups in the Zoom service. Distance exercise groups are organized three days a week and include exercises that improve mobility, balance, muscle condition, and stretching. The classes are free of charge, and no pre-registration is needed. You can participate in the remote exercise group at home via a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
