International Jyväskylä will be presented on Monday, 8 May, at Jyväskylä main library

The program consists of music performances and speeches from international Jyväskylä. There is a separate program for children. The event will be opened by the mayor, Timo Koivisto. The Jyväskylä city services, educational institutions, and associations will present their activities at their info desks.

The event is free of charge and intended for all residents of Jyväskylä. The language of the event is Finnish. At the event, you can receive language support in different languages.

Music performances and speeches from international Jyväskylä

During the afternoon, we will hear discussions on the topic of "Minun Jyväskyläni" (my Jyväskylä) on the 1st-floor stage of the library. Ghareeb Fakhrulddin, Aapo Ruuttunen, and Sara Noori will tell us what things are important to them in Jyväskylä.

In addition, students of JAMK will tell us about the Talent Boost project, and Päivi Pöntinen, the service manager of the City of Jyväskylä, will share information about the operation of the new International Jyväskylä service unit. On the stage, we will enjoy the performance by Barbara, a Zambian singer, and listen to Persian music by Farshad Sanati, Sheida Sanati, and Sahar Abdolmalekian.

Program for children

During the day, on the 2nd floor of the library, in the toddler area of the children's section, there will be programs such as multilingual songs, Pöytäteatteri Kolme Pukkia performances, and readings of fairy tales, for example, in Finnish, Dutch, Chinese, Spanish, and Bosnian. In addition, the bunny and the bear organize a treasure hunt for the children during the day.

Info desks provide information, guidance, and networking

At Minnansali hall, you can find info desks of Paremmin yhdessä ry, Wari ry, Multicultural Center Gloria ry, MONI ry, Jyväskylän Feniks ry, Keski-Suomen Yhteisöjen Tuki (KYT) ry, Jyväskylän seurakunta, Monikko ry, Jyväskylä College of Services as well as the following city services: sports services, employment services, inclusion services, youth services/Youth Workshop, urban planning, housing services, International Jyväskylä - Info Center and cultural services / Cultural City Jyväskylä. They will share information about their activities and services.
In the children's section of the library, you will find: Multicultural Center Gloria ry and City of Jyväskylä's Early Childhood Care and Basic Education as well as Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL) Järvi-Suomi district, Jyväskylä MLL association ja Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland – Jyväskylä's family centre.

Library’s introduction tours 

During the 10-minute library introduction tours, you will get familiar with the foreign language books section and information on multilingual services, among other things.
The event is organized by Paremmin Yhdessä ry, the City of Jyväskylä, Multicultural Center Gloria ry, and Wari ry.
