Lost Tourula on display at Jyväskylä’s Kangas
The exhibition, which is organized jointly with the Piippuranta Club and the Kauko Sorjonen foundation, displays marker and colored pencil drawings, also street and garden views of Tourula implemented by watercolor technique. The artworks belong to the collections of the Kauko Sorjonen foundation.
Torsten Stigzelius was familiar with the Kangas and Tourula area since his childhood and youth. When he returned to Jyväskylä in the 1990s, old memories led him to immortalize the already lost Tourula. The exhibition was exhibited for the first time in the Museum of Central Finland in 2011 and hasn't been displayed elsewhere since then.
Some of the buildings depicted in the Lost Tourula exhibition are unidentified. Residents and visitors are therefore asked to help identify the buildings in the pictures.
The exhibition is open from 10 March to 31 May 2023 within the opening hours of the Piippuranta Club. The club is open Mondays from 10:00 to 16:00, Tuesdays to Thursdays from 8:30 to 16:00, and Fridays from 8:30 to 15:00.
