Freddy Fabris: The Renaissance Series
13.6.–27.9.2026

In his award-winning Renaissance Series, photographer Freddy Fabris recreates iconic Renaissance masterpieces in an unexpected setting: a car repair shop. Using mechanics, friends, and actors as his models, Fabris transforms familiar compositions into insightful, witty tableaux. The series has gone viral on social media, earned multiple international photography awards, and toured galleries worldwide from 2016 to 2020. Now, for the first time in the Nordic region, the complete series is on view at the Aalto2 Museum Centre in Jyväskylä. Freddy Fabris is an American photographer. He is known primarily for his work in advertising, he also pursues an active independent artistic practice.

Rally Finland – 75 Years of Gravel, Heroes, and a Travelling Circus
13.6.–8.11.2026

This exhibition takes museum visitors out to the gravel roads, pine forests, and makeshift field parking that define rallying in Central Finland. It also brings to life the camaraderie of the volunteers who make the event possible, and explores how the rally has evolved – sparking excitement, debate, and passion in the hundreds of thousands who experience it each year. Visitors can get up close to legendary rally cars, immerse themselves in the most iconic moments of Rally Finland, and glimpse how Jyväskylä and the Central Finland region have transformed alongside the sport through the decades. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Mobilia Automobile and Road Museum and AKK Sports Oy, organiser of today’s WRC event, Secto Rally Finland. The exhibition also draws on the expertise of rally communities and hobbyists from all over Finland.

The Contemplative Eye of Jonas Heiska – Quiet Poetics, Warm Humour
10.10.2026–10.10.2027

This exhibition presents the life and work of painter Jonas Heiska (1873–1937), born in the village of Oravasaari in Toivakka. The Exhibition arosed in response to requests from visitors of the Artist’s Home of the Heiska Family, a small museum operated by the Museum of Central Finland. Many guests hoped to see additional works from the Heiska collection that are not permanently on view. The exhibition fulfils this wish by displaying paintings alongside photographs and artefacts that bring Heiska’s world vividly to life. His work centres on the landscapes of Central Finland, scenes of everyday rural life, and views of his hometown, Jyväskylä. Throughout the exhibition period, guided tours and small-cale events will take place at the artist’s home, located adjacent to the museum.
