What can be ordered as an interlibrary loan? 

  • You can request material that is not in the collections of the Keski Libraries.
  • You can request e.g. books, magazines, sheet music, microfilms, audio recordings, videos, and paper copies.
  • You can request materials via interlibrary loans from Finland and other European countries.
     

Who can place an interlibrary loan request? 

  • You can place an interlibrary loan request if you are on the Keski Libraries' customer register and have the right to borrow.

How much does an interlibrary loan cost?

  •  A fee of 4 EUR per loan plus a possible fee set by the lending library will be charged:
    • Helsinki City Library, libraries with a regional development function, the National Repository Library and the Library of Parliament do not charge a fee. 
    • Scientific libraries charge 9-15 EUR per loan. 
    • Archives charge 8.50 EUR for 1 to 5 microfilm reels.
  • When you place an interlibrary loan request, you agree to pay all interlibrary loan charges. 
  • The fee will be charged on the date of the loan. 
  • A fee will also be charged if you cancel your request, but the loan has already left the lending library. 
     

How do I pick up, return and renew an interlibrary loan? 

  • Pick up your interlibrary loan at the Jyväskylä City Library branch of your choice when you place your request. 
  • Return the interlibrary loan to the place where you picked it up no later than the due date. 
  • Interlibrary loans will appear in the Keski Online Library on your loans, but you cannot renew them there. 
  • If necessary, you can ask the Interlibrary Loan Office to renew your interlibrary loan before the due date. 
  • Interlibrary loans are subject to the loan period and other conditions set by the lending library (e.g., the loan is only available in the reading room).
