Self-service libraries

Instructions for the use of self-service libraries

You can access your own library with a library card and PIN code. You can get your PIN code by visiting one of the Keski libraries. You can also ask for the PIN code via the online library chat service.

The PIN code is the same as the one you use online to renew loans, at lending machines or when reading e-books or e-magazines from the Keski Libraries.

NOTE! Children under 15 years of age are only admitted if accompanied by an adult. A parent or guardian can give consent for independent self-service library use by a child under 15 years of age using this form (reverse of the library card form). The parent or guardian giving consent must be the same person as on the library card.

The customer is responsible for the behaviour of any accompanying person.

How to get in

Use the sign-in unit next to the front door to check in:
1. Place the library card on the reader with the barcode facing up.
2. Enter the PIN code. 
3. Pull open the library door.
4. The lights turn on and off automatically.

What can you do in a self-service library?

All of them:
- borrow and return material using the machines
- pick up your holds and borrow them using the machines (does not apply to video games in Kortepohja and Kuokkala libraries)
- read magazines 
- use a computer to browse the library catalogue or the internet
- use the wireless network (WLAN)
 

All (not Korpilahti):
- print from computers to a coin-operated colour copier
- make photocopies on a coin-operated colour photocopier 
- scan free of charge with a photocopier to e-mail or a memory stick
 

In Kuokkala you can also:
- borrow a tablet to use in the library with a library card and PIN code
Library fees can only be paid in the presence of staff or online via the online library.
 

When you leave the library

Leave the equipment and lights on. They will automatically switch off at the end of the opening hours. Check that the external door is locked.
