Image17.4.2023The federal council of the Finnish Athletics Federation (SUL) has granted the 2026 Athletics Championship, the Kaleva Games (Kalevan Kisat), to Jyväskylä. The City of Jyväskylä and the Jyväskylä Field Athletes (JKU) jointly applied for competitions for 2026, which is the 100th anniversary of Harju Stadium. Harju Stadium will be renovated and expanded by the time of the Kaleva Games.

Image17.11.2022The Finnish round of the World Rally Championship, or Secto Rally Finland, returned this year to its full four-day glory after the difficult coronavirus period. A total of 230,000 spectators were recorded in Jyväskylä and Central Finland, the visitor record was broken in Harju, and the Finnish World Cup Rally left a jackpot of income behind for the Jyväskylä region and Central Finland.
