International House Jyväskylä

International House Jyväskylä gathers services for immigrants together under one roof. We help clients with integration, everyday matters, employment, and meeting employers.

International House Jyväskylä comprises a Centre of Expertise, Info Center, and integration services. 

You can find all services at Hannikaisenkatu 11-13, 40100 Jyväskylä. Our door is open Mon-Fri 9 am to 3 pm.

International House Jyväskylä will be closed on the following Finnish public holidays in 2024:

Osaamiskeskus

Our services provide assistance in matters related to looking for a job, entrepreneurship, and studying, as well as organising various groups, informational events, and happenings. Career counsellors work at the Osaamiskeskus together with a Finnish language instructor and personal coaches.

A career counsellor can help you with job-seeking, entrepreneurship, and applying for a place to study. Our Finnish instructor can assist you with matters related to studying Finnish and organises various groups of Finnish-language learners. A personal coach provides assistance in official matters related to employment if you are a client of the Jyväskylä, Äänekoski, Laukaa or Muurame municipal trial and are registered as a job seeker.

Osaamiskeskus serves the public in both Finnish and English. Some services are also arranged in Russian. If necessary, we can utilise interpreters.

For employers, the Osaamiskeskus provides help with orientation and finding methods of interaction that support mutual understanding. Our Finnish language instructor is also starting to teach Finnish to companies. Osaamiskeskus extends services to businesses and employers operating in Jyväskylä as well as in the area of the local government trial.

Info Center

Info Center can help you with many routine matters. You can come and ask about matters to do with Migri or Kela, openings at children's schools and day care centres, and leisure activities. At the Info Center, help is given in 13 languages. The service languages are Finnish, English, Arabic, Kinjaruanda, Swahili, French, Persian, Dari, Russian, Estonian, Ukrainian, Thai, and Tigrinja. The Info Center supports the integration of immigrants living in Jyväskylä (including those planning to move there) at as early a stage as possible.

Integration Services

Integration Services are responsible for the reception of quota refugees immigrating to the municipality and for the initial integration of refugee clients. Integration Services are responsible for housing and renting dwellings, assisting early-stage immigrants in all official activities, everyday matters and getting to know the environment, and taking care of initial assessments of non-personnel as well as integration plans and organising social orientation. The integration counsellors personally contact their clients. An interpreter can be provided for meetings and encounters.
