Our services

The Expertise Centre for Immigrants project (ESR) promotes the employment of migrants and the identification of skills.

Immigrant customers: The Expertise Centre for Immigrants supports foreign-language customers to improve their Finnish in Finnish language trainings, get to know more about the basic job seeking and support them to find their own expertise to promote employment through individual guidance and counselling.

Employers: Employers are offered Finnish language coach services to the workplace, guidance and advice on the employment of immigrants, and support for intercultural interaction.

Partners and networks: The project develops and strengthens cooperation between actors promoting employment, shares good practices and reduces overlapping activities.

Implementers

The project is carried out by the City of Jyväskylä's Employment Services and part-implemented by Paremmin Yhdessä ry (NGO).

Objectives

The aim of the projects is to develop services and a support structure that creates solutions to the challenges of high unemployment among migrants
Project sub-objectives:

• promote and speed up the entry of migrants into working life
• improve knowledge recognition and development
• support entrepreneurship
• develop the city's coordinating role
• closer cooperation between employment promoters
• share good practices
• reduce overlap
• lower the threshold for employers to recruit migrants

The implementation period of the project is 1 December 2020 - 31 May 2023.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund of the European Union, the City of Jyväskylä  and Paremmin Yhdessä ry.
