Cooperation with civic and voluntary organisations

Civic organisations offer you a channel through which you can participate in, contribute to and take care of your community. In addition, however, voluntary work can be done even if you do not belong to any association. The City of Jyväskylä cooperates with the associations and supports them by awarding grants and by providing affordable facilities.

Civic Activity Center Matara is a meeting place for residents and home to dozens of organisations. Matara facilities are currently used by more than 100 organisations. Sepänkeskus Centre is mainly used by senior organisations.

The information and activity announcements of associations from all over Finland can be found on the online service Lähellä.fi. This nationwide online platform makes regional association activities visible and easy to discover.
