Introduction
In Finland every child under school age is entitled to a place in municipal day care. Children under the age of three alternatively have the right to home day care allowance.
A place in day care may be applied for throughout the year at the nearest day care centre. You find the day care centres at the map >> .
The application for a place in day care is left with the preferred day-care centre. Those opting for supervised family day care may turn to the nearest day-care centre for instructions. A place in day care will be arranged within four months or, in urgent cases, two weeks.
A monthly fee is charged for daycare services. The fee is calculated according to the size of the family and its gross earnings. Further information about all services can be obtained from the day-care centres and contacts listed in the local telephone directory (under Jyväskylän kaupunki/ päivähoito).
