Urban Planning and Design Summer School will be held in Palokka, Pappilanrinne 13.–22. of August
2009. The annual course is organized by the Urban Design and Infrastructure department of Jyväskylä
and the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (YTK) at the Helsinki University of Technology
(TKK) in co-operation with IFHP, the International Federation for Housing and Planning.
Theme of the Summer School in 2009 is ’Mapping Urban Space’.
An estimate of twenty students will participate from around the world. The students of architecture
and urban planning will analyze the developing possibilities of Pappilanrinne by completing tasks in
small groups. Ideas produced will be regarded in future development plans for the area.
Final Presentation is open for public and is held at Palokka School
Friday 21st of August at 13.00–15.30.
Summer School is lead by professor, architect Ksenija Hiel from the Novi Sad University in Serbia
and town planning architect Anne Sandelin. Members of the City Planning Office are attending the
course as lecturers or mentors. Summer School is conducted in English.
Residents and guests are welcome to participate in the Final Presentation and to visit the workshop.
Workshop is open for public on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th of August at 14.00-16.00.
