Ilkka Halinen, City Architect; Leena Rossi, General Planning Architect; and Anne Sandelin, Town Planning Architect were acknowledged by Good Globalisation 2009 Prize

With Good Globalisation (Hyvä kansainvälistyjä) prize City of Jyväskylä recognize annually its either employee, working group or other group, for instance group of pupils, for internationalization, networking, mobility and international visibility.

Jyväskylä is the city of Alvar Aalto, and is known for its modern architecture. The Urban Planning Department of the City of Jyväskylä has cooperated with world-leading architect Peter Zumthor, and with winners of international competitions, including Zita Cotti and Martina Hauser, Cristina Diaz-Moreno and Efrén Garcia-Grinda, and Bart van der Velde. The international architecture cooperation is excellent and open-minded about urban planning, and reflects Jyväskylä's willingness to operate as a national pioneer in improving the quality of built environments.

Domestic and international architecture competitions, arranged annually in Jyväskylä, strengthen the modern cityscape. The number of Finnish and international architecture competitions that have been arranged in Jyväskylä exceeds those of all other Finnish cities outside the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

Good Globalisation prize 2009 was given to city architects by mayor Markku Andersson on Saturday 21.3.2009 at the Cit y Hall during the Open doors –event .
