Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä offers a versatile spring programme 2009

During the spring 2009 Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä festivies Fredrik Pacius who was born 200 years ago. Pacius was the composer of Finnish National anthem and he also composed a lot of other pieces – operas as well as works for orchestra.

In the Easter concert we are jubilating the man choir Sirkat which has been active for 110 years. In this concert we will hear the premiere of Erkki Raiski's oratorio.

On February the 18th we will also hear the premiere of Kai Nieminen's concerto for oboe and orchestra subtitled The Dreams of Gaudi. Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä will also attend the festival of new music in Jyväskylä called periFERIA. In this concert musicians of our orchestra, Risto Keinänen and June Binnie, will also appear as composers.

Other composers of our time during this season will be Adrian Pop, Luigi Dallapiccola, Ronald Royer, Eurico Carrapatoso, Gerard Hoffnung, John Cage and Jacques Desbriére.

Classical and romantic music will also be strongly represented in the program: for example Jean Sibelius, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Max Bruch.

During the spring we will also hear the whole concert of melodies from the James Bond movies. On April Fool's Day we will hear joyful melodies.
