Waste management
Waste management has experienced quick changes over the past ten years. Thanks to sorting, approximately fifty per cent of waste can be utilised. Valuable raw materials can be recycled, and an ever smaller part of waste ends up at waste treatment plants for disposal.
The City of Jyväskylä takes care of the waste management services for residential waste and comparable waste fractions:
- Competitive bidding of waste transport
- Agreements on waste treatment and reception
- Arranging recoverable waste services
- Arranging hazardous waste services for households
- Advice and communication on waste
- Municipal services.
