Cantamus Potsdam choir performed in Jyväskylä

A mixed choir of 35 people arrived from Potsdam, a twin town of Jyväskylä, for a concert tour of Finland. Cantamus Potsdam, a choir from City of Jyväskylä’s German twin city, had a joint concert with the Kuokkalan Kantaattikuoro choir on Wednesday 19 April 2017 in Kuokkala Church. The diverse repertoire of the two choirs included religious choir hymns, arrangements of folk songs from different countries and songs from musicals. Cantamus Potsdam is a well-known choir in its hometown, and is conducted by Helgert Weber. This was the first time the choir visited Finland. The Kuokkala cantata choir is conducted by cantor Eija-Liisa Väisänen, and it functions under the Kuokkala parish.

The choir also visited the town hall of Jyväskylä on 20 April 2017. Members of the choir met representatives of Jyväskylä, including education services project coordinator Pia Bärlund and liaison assistant Kirsi Kesänen.

Potsdam has an active Potsdam-Jyväskylä twin town association, chaired by Alexander Richter

Jyväskylä and Potsdam have been twin cities since 1985
